Russian authorities Statistics don't lead the statistics of outbound tourism for education abroad. The experts rely on data from UNESCO Institute for Statistics and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Their united statistics show that in the mid-1990s, the Russian Diaspora of students numbered about 13 thousand people, by 2000 it had increased to 25 thousand people, and by 2007 was already about 43 thousand people.
Most Russian students (about 80% of researched population) attend university in four countries: the U.S., Germany, UK and France. The leading recipient countries are the United States and Germany.
Currently, the experts estimate the number of students abroad of Russian citizens in 50 thousand people.
Annually the number of students in the world increased by 12%.
Globally, the number of international students increases annually in China and in Latin America countries. The United States doesn't lose their positions. Every year foreign students bring Americans the profit of 20 billion dollars.
A large number of students from Asian countries (China, India, South. Korea) are studying in Western Europe and in the United States. For students, education abroad is an opportunity to learn or improve a foreign language, to travel, to obtain the opportunity for career growth in the future, to gain valuable experience, and of course, to make new friends.
